As a foray into our workshop, here are some manufacturing terms.
The skinner : this tool is used to cut the leather, by hand, along the templates.
The edge trimmer : it is used to finish the edges of the leather, so that they are not sharp. The groove: with this tool, a groove is dug to embed the seam. This way, the seam does not wear out and is not visible.
The pareuse : it is used to refine the leather and avoid overthickness.
Padding: this involves folding the edge of a piece of leather inwards, so that the cut is not visible.
Hot stamping: this is the machine that engraves the famous signature on a piece of leather.
